Why scans come out sideways
Sheet-fed scanners read whatever orientation the paper went in, and duplex scanners often flip the back sides — which is why "every second page is upside down" is such a common complaint. That exact case is the even pages option here: rotate them 180° and leave the rest alone.
Rotation is metadata, not editing
A PDF page carries a rotation flag that viewers honour when displaying it. This tool changes that flag — it does not rasterise, recompress or otherwise touch the page content, which is why a 40 MB scan rotates in a second and stays 40 MB. It also means the change is genuinely lossless and reversible: rotate back and you have the original presentation.
One practical consequence: the rotation adds to whatever flag the page already has. A page that was already stored rotated 90° and displayed upright stays upright-plus-your-rotation, exactly as you'd expect from a viewer.
Does rotating affect text and searchability?
No. The text layer, links, bookmarks and form fields all stay intact — they rotate with the page. That's another advantage of the metadata approach over tools that convert pages to images to rotate them, which destroys the text layer along the way.
